It still boggles my mind that they used an alternate universe Superboy to explain the resurrection of an important Batman character.

I knew there was trouble here when the Red Hook arc started, and Winnick said in an interview he didn't know how Jason came back.
Just using the Lazarus Pit, without the reality warpping, seemed a better way to go.

Just wait until the final five issues of Infinite Crisis come out -- THEN it will all make sense.

I've seen this sort of comment made a few times. Is this an actual rumor?

The problem with the recent Superman reboot is that it's so half-assed.
I don't mind the reboot. It's been 20 years...we were due for one.
I don't even mind the re-introduction of so many silver age elements (albeit updated).
What I do mind is the uncertainty as to exactly what IS in continuity. Big chunks of the post-MOS Superman seem to still count. For example the Death of Superman seems mostly untouched. The Cyborg Superman is still running around. Lois and Clark are still married. Luthor is still a (former) evil buisnessman.
What counts and what doesn't?
If they wanted to reboot Superman then they should have started at square on and done it. At the least, now at the one year later mark (no pun intended) we should have been given something, a miniseries, a special, hell, even a timeline that takes us over the highlights of Superman's decade (or so) long career so we know what's in and what's out and what's changed.

"Oh come on."
Ok, so I was using a bit of Hyperbole- but the point is that this is only more proof that DC isn't interested in getting a new, more diverse audience.

As I understand it, and I could be completely off, nothing counts. That is to say, just because we have the status quo that we do, don't assume that it got that way because of the stories that you read. So, how did Clark propose to Lois? We don't know. How did Superman come back to life? We don't know. What was Lex and Clark's first meeting like? We don't know. In other words, unless we've been told the whys and wherefores in the past year since One Year Later, everything is up for grabs.

Does Luthor still have a bionic hand, or has that been retconned too?

You know, I'm so sick to death of the retcons and the continuity tweaks and
all the inane BS that are burdening superhero fiction.
At this point, I can't even care about continuity anymore. I just take each
storyline as it's own seperate entity.

The bionic hand was done away with in the early 90's by Roger Stern. He killed off Luthor and had him transplant his brain into a clone. There wasn't a retcon involved.

Not to mention the retcon that retconned that retcon.
