Didn't Peter Parker make his costume out of spandex in Spider-Man: Chapter One?

***

Yup. Seemed logical for someone who's supposedly working from what he finds lying around the house. (Not sure why he'd have the Spandex -- but, then, I was never quite sure why he'd have a leotard, either!) Point there, of course, is that Spider-Man is someone who is forced to make do -- unlike Batman, or Superman, or the X-Men, or the FF or --- just about anybody else!

Just to continue this thought for a moment -- let's consider some of the Silver Age and subsequent superheroes who we know with absolute certainty do not wear Spandex:

Superman
Batman
Wonder Woman
Green Lantern
Green Arrow
The Flash
Supergirl
Robin
Plastic Man
Hawkman
Hawkgirl
The Atom
The Fantastic Four
The X-Men (any of them)
Thor
Iron Man (d'uh!)
Iron Fist
The Scarlet Witch
Nova (The Human Rocket)

…and those who might (given Marvel Time):

Spider-Man
Daredevil
Quicksilver
Luke Cage

Mostly, y'see, it's about where the suit comes from.

LOL I just can't see Luke Cage wearing spandex.

I always pictured Quicksilver in a special outfit, not just spandex. I can see Magneto being able to set him up with something good.

Dare we ask what your sinister plan was, JB?

To get youse guys thinking about it. So that maybe the next time you have the urge to say "Spandex" you pause for a moment and realize the likelihood of that fabric being in use is remote.

And we would have gotten away with it, too - if not for those pesky kids!

Alpha Flight would have had the best costumes Canadian money could buy, through Dept H.

Insert your Canadian jokes here.

Good case in point. Puck wore leather, Snowbird
and Shaman something mystical. Guardian's suit
was a kind of armor, probably a fine metal weave of
some sort. The twins would have to have worn
something other than Spandex, given their speed.

The only one possibly in normal cloth -- but not
Spandex -- would be Marinna.

I have trouble trying to imagine what the Flash's costume (Barry Allen version) would look like in real life. I can't picture it as any sort of traditional fabric. What could they do to translate that brilliant costume into a live action film?
