Now that's Batman, great work JB. For the love of God DC please give this
man one of the Bat titles. Detective with Paul Dini would suit me just fine.

So many responses. I'll add to the din. I love the cape especially. The flair at the cape's edge is dramatic, but it looks a bit shorter overall, more manueverable. It's a combination of the best elements of Batman's cape. Very sharp. The utility belt also stands out. This is the definitive belt. Streamlined, a slim surface (as opposed to pouches) and mini-container tubes notched all around. It's a great design, very James Bond-like. The white contrast lines are placed perfectly. Who doesn't love Batman?

Thanks, Gerry. Page eight and the first panel of 9 are what I was referring to.

Nice pages for sure. I believe the original art for both page 8 and page 9 are available from two different dealers if you were interested.

I wonder what Neal's stuff goes for these days? Anyway -- I have several Adams' pieces (especially if we count SUPERMAN vs THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN!), so I think I am content for now.

I used to own quite a few pieces of Adams' original art and followed the market quite closely. Maybe some of the other original art collectors can chime in however I think the averages for an inside page with moderate action are as follows:

Batman - $5000 (Bat 251 pages command signficantly more due to Neal inking Neal and the classic nature of the story, specifically the page 9 is for sale from a dealer at $8250)

Detective - $3500, Not as attractive to collectors as Neal's Batman work although personally I love the Man-Bat story-lines

Brave and Bold - $2500 for #79-83 $4000 for #84-86, Once again, not as attractive as either Batman or Detective to art collectors probably due to the fact that Neal's style on Batman (at least in issues #79-83) was a little more old school vs his more popular, darker look for Batman in the 1970's. As I've said before, I firmly believe the work Neal was doing on B&B #84-86 was spectacular with the first new GA team-up being a real stand-out. It was also the only other example of Neal inking Neal on a Batman title.

X-men - $who knows? An estimate might be $7500. Any pages from this run are incredibly tough to come across as collectors hoard whatever they have and any transactions, if they do occur, happen behind closed doors. I have seen a single page from #59 with moderate action sell for $10k. In my opinion, the best work of Neal's career.

Strange Adventures - $2500. Great stuff and good pages are often made available. Not as desirable most likely as few pages actually feature Deadman in costume.

Green Lantern/Green Arrow - $who knows? Similar to X-men pages, these GL/GA pages very rarely surface. An estimate might be $6500. The pencil-only pages featuring GA from a back-story in GL #87 are pure gold and are apparently incredible to see in person.

Avengers - $3500, Very rare to see any pages from #93 surface

Would you mind sharing which Adams pages you have JB? I would to see any scans. Thanks!

Since they are framed, they are somewhat difficult to scan, but my Adams pages include one from the Sgt Rock BRAVE&BOLD (84/12) and one from the B&B Teen Titans (83/20), plus a two page recap of Batman's origin written by Denny O'Neil (but I can't read the issue number -- it's under the matte). And there are the Superman figures which Neal supposedly repenciled in S/ASM. Here's a crappy scan of those pages:

Great pages JB. Does your B&B #84 page 12 feature Batman in costume lurking/swinging around the Nazi castle with a great close-up of the Nazi general shouting in the last panel? That particular page has always been a favorite of mine.

Sorry, I'm at work and don't have the comic with me.

'Fraid not. (If memory serves, that particular page was inked by Joe Kubert, so double-drool!!) My page has Batman swinging down and kicking some Nazis off a motorcycle/sidecar. "Ein Fledermausmann!" one of them shouts. It also has a nice Kuberty-closeup on Rock. And it was the second page of original art I ever bought! (The first was a Russ Heath Rock page.*)

*Not a particular fan of Rock -- just happened that
way!

I know which page you are referring to, very nice. Very very hard to find any pages from that issue with Batman in costume.

I used to own a couple of pages from that issue. The first featured Batman running through the trees and then swinging down and also a great Sgt. Rock close-up shot shouting in the lower left panel. Man I regret selling that page!!!

The other was the second last page I think with Bruce recovering from a shot to the jaw given to him by the Sgt. and featured an incredible head shot of Batman amongst a cloud effect.

Very nice commission Mr.Byrne, you draw an awesome Batman. Would still love to see a Paul Dini/John Byrne Batman story...maybe inked by Mark Farmer.

Oh and Neal Adams is awesome too :)

Someone PLEASE explain to me WHY JB isn't doing a BATMAN series right
now???? That's an awesome Batman, JB!!!! Love the black cowl and cape.

i can see you bringing a strong Neal Adams influence to the book if you
had the chance to.

-C!
