I absolutely love that Adams page of Batman scaring the guy in Gordon's office. I was just rereading that story last night.

Thanks, Gerry!

I love that second page, where Bigger Melvin is on the run.
Adams messes with the flow of the panels, such as having Bigger running off
to the left and Batman has to turn towards him instead of running off to the
right in the same direction we're reading. Our eyes have to dart all over the
place to keep track of the direction the character is going.

JB:  Cool Batman drawing!

All:  Is there a TPB available of the Neal Adams Batman issues?

There are three hardcovers that collect all of his Batman work. However, Neal Adams went back and retouched his old stories. They've been recolored, reinked in some cases.

But they are collected if you want them.

I would KILL for this Batman commission!
I think if I'm ever fortunate enough to afford a commission, it will be Batman.

JB - is one of the pages that Gerry posted your other favorite Batman page that you were referring to?

What are your thoughts on retouching previous works, similar to what Neal did to his earlier World's Finest and Brave and Bold stories.

The piece has a definite late 60s/early 70s vibe to it to me, for some reason. Maybe it's that JB's Batman is a bit more slim than the bulky version that was popular for awhile in the 90s-- more a gymnast than a power lifter.

"The Joker's five-way revenge" was the first Batman comic story I read (was
reading Marvel comics and the Brazilian publisher acquired the rights to the
DC characters- I bought Batman #1 very warily). The
Melvin scene was the moment I realized: BATMAN IS COOL!
