Great Batman piece. Can only agree with previous comments to the effect that world needs more Batman stories courtesy of JB. They usually look as smashing as this commission and then are good regular fun stories to boost.

Isn't Abe Froman the name of the Sausage King of Chicago in Ferris Beuller's Day Off?  If so, then didn't you break the rules in obtaining a screen name other than your own, real name?

And i'm a member of the yellow oval cult. We want it back. Yet here, it's fine. Let just say it's at a time where Batman doen't have it on his costume.

Back, back, back, bring the yellow oval back

Back, back, back, bring it back

Back we want it back back back.

"Dave Stewart" is also the guitarist from the 80s band The Eurythmics.  There is such a thing as coincidence.

I love to see the inks in a way never seen in comics, the shades. I remeber MoS Batman he had the bat insignia like this then suddenly when he was with Robin he had the "yellow teeth". This could be symbolizing that some time had passed.

I'll grant you that.  Also, a very fine colorist and former major league pitcher.  None of which are myself.

However, when someone starts picking a fight almost immediately after signing up on the forum, with a semi-obscure name from a movie; warning bells have a tendency to sound.

Wonderful piece! Bravo!

I rather like the stylized, Neal Adams version of the "yellow oval" chest emblem, but the oval-less version is also great.

And the cylinder-belt is way cooler and more futuristic than the pouch-belt. I think the pouch-belt is popular because it ties in with the militaristic/terrorist aspects of the character that were introduced by Miller.

Neal Adams often showed a human side to Batman in his expressions and I think that's something most modern artists neglect.

Any excuse to reprise this is welcomed:

Man, I love Gordon's expression in that last panel as well as how Batman is positioned towards the door. Such subtleties.

JB - it has often been speculated that Neal did his own inks on this issue vs. Dick Giordano who actually received the credit. Having worked closely with Dick, what are your thoughts?

Considering your frequency in posting this page, is it safe to assume that this is your favorite Batman issue that Neal did?
