Why do you guys get shocked and offended when JB points out something he doesn't like? He isn't just some guy on a random message board. It's his message board. Most of us log on to read what he has to say. Fans or non-fans. If I was at any of your message boards I'd show the same courtesy to you and your rules as I do JB's. If you don't like what he says you can certainly debate the issues. But the constant crying about how he doesn't ask nicely, is absurd. I've been on this board for almost three years. Others were members on his other forums before this one. It is not as if this is something that hasn't been brought up before. None of this is new or shocking. How many times can someone ask politely and be ignored?

What about other heroes besides Spidey.  Should it be Bat-man and Super-man?

"I'd say no hyphen or shortening the name usually means typing shortcuts, rather than jumping to a wild conclusion that there is embarassment over the character."

I would tend to agree with you if this were say 1993 but seeing the misuse of loose and lose on message boards, the naming of mp3s compared to the songs they actually are, the citing of rumor as fact, etc, etc that occurs on the Internet, it may not be ignorance just plain laziness that makes me say that they are not typing a shortcut, but they don't know the actual name and don't care enough to attempt to get it right by even checking.

The argument that we all have a spell check should never replace looking something up or learning how to spell better.  The same Internet that brought us bad habits can also educate us if we care to search for the correct way to say or spell something.

I also believe that if you are angry at the way these things are pointed out, then perhaps you are one of those people who don't care to get things right.  JB or anyone that has seen mistakes over and over again that can and should be checked are tired of having to point out other people's carelessness and/or ignorance.  Sometimes informal rules lead to really lazy habits that grow and grow and grow with the Internet on those who see mistakes made over and over again and don't know the right way to write.  It gets real old.

Add in the constant what about "Super-Man" questions and my head is going to explode. The thread is barely two pages long and how many smart ass responses have included this gem?

I'll spell it out for those who don't actually read comics. Superman is spelled that way because that's the spelling the company puts on the comic and how they refer to the character. Spider-Man is spelled that way because that's the spelling the company puts on the comic and how they refer to the character.

If you forgot the hyphen when typing, it's understandable. But the absurd notion to constantly defy the correct spelling of any word is the underliying message of JB's initial post and what most folks are missing.

I know logic and message boards in the same sentence is a contradiction. But this one is a doozy. But Wallace you're correct, a person could go mad trying to make sense.

For the record, I was the first person to start using "email" instead of "e-mail".  It was me.

Kurt - Spider-Ham didn't make the top 5? Is this because of Lent?

Best laugh I've had all week! I mean iced tea dribbling laughter - lucky my mouth wasn't full.

I've never heard that before, where is it from, JB?
