David Whitely:  This thread is making me doubt my sanity. Were these same pages and
commentary on them in another thread recently? I thought I participated in
some thoughts about how ludicrous that sequence is.

Paul Jenkins wrote that! Well, that puts a different spin on things. I doubt
the reader is supposed to relate to what that reporter says, and I doubt
her opinions represent the author's opinions. Instead, Civil War plot
takes precedence over character, and, for the moment, the plot dictates
that Captain America be shoehorned into an uncharacteristic paralysis of
self-doubt, a nervous breakdown, so to speak. It's not Jenkins's fault. Get
well soon, Captain America!

It's all part of the climactic moment of Civil War

SPOILERS

where Captain America goes a little nuts and tries to kill Tony Stark in his efforts to defeat Tony's hero-registration plans.  Captain America by this point has lost sight of all the damage he's caused --and civilians jump in to save Iron Man by tackling Captain America.  Cap sees how wrong he's been-- ("winning everything except the argument" is how M****l describes it).  And Cap surrenders in a moment of self-realization that's been building up since before this lady skewered him for ruining America.

Cap learns a big lesson -- one he'll never forget -- which is... um, ...don't try to kill Iron Man?  No.  Don't kill civilians in your wars with other Superheroes?  No.  Hero-registration is a necessary evil?  No-- I give up.  A phoney resolution to a phoney event.

Sigh.  Can we just have a "M***** Sucks" Thread instead of creating a few dozen each week.  Same song all the time.  We get it.
Daredevil, X-Factor, Runaways, Astonishing X-Men, Ultimate Spider-man, She-Hulk, Black Panther...

That's not true. I like Peter David, Mark Waid, Peter Milligan, Bryan O'Malley, John Byrne etc.. all the writers that get shafted! >:( The top ten writers are usually pretty awful imo.

Paul Jenkins can't write a funny joke to save his life. I suffered through Inhumans for the Jae Lee art and I finally quit with issue 2 of Sentry. No artwork can salvage his writing.

And anyway, it's not the customer's job to enjoy an artist's work. It's the artist's job to entertain customers. So boo hoo at creators getting negative reactions to their work.

I really really hate most comic book writers. >:(

Okay, not all, just most.  How would you say these guys got shafted (Well, I know how JB did)?  PAD is doing Marvel's biggest newsmaker (Dark Tower) and one of it's best books (X-Factor).  Waid is doing Leigon (never cared for them) and a pretty hot Brave & Bold.  Not sure what Milligan is doing now but it ain't Marvel's fault X-Statix didn't sell (I liked it), it is the artist's job to make the fans like it and blame the fans or creators not Marvel for that one.
