Greg: I just wanted to post that for what it's worth I really enjoyed your post re: Sins Past story line. It was well thought out and pretty enlightening over all. I too believe that Story tellers should treat our heroes with more respect thatn has been recently given. I personally haven't bought many comics of late because i just can't stomach most of it. One of the things that I loved about the Vertigo line when it was created was that it used mostly new creations and if a writer felt like writing a story using more mature themes then it could be done there without denegrating heroes that have been around for upwards of 40-60 years....
Cheers, Donopolis

I remember thinking that "Hate Plague" episode of TRANSFORMERS sucked nards when I was a kid. Haven't seen it recently, but it probably still does.

SPOILERS!
.
.
.
.
.
In "CIVIL WAR: The Initiative," Carol Danvers, AKA, Ms. Marvel tells Spider-Woman that Captain America is not dead. "He's tucked away safe on The Raft. No one knows. No one. They're trying to save his life even as we speak."
Also, unrelated to the death of Captain America, but something I find interesting...
In the new issue of "Fantastic Four" we see footnotes again in a Marvel comic. And in "Mighty Avengers," we see thought balloons (in a comic written by Bendis!).
Is this an admission that the classic comic book conventions weren't hoary, silly old things, but viable storytelling tools, after all?

They totally bring Optimus back to save the universe from the hate-plague later in the series, though. But it does deplete the Autobot Matrix of Leadership.

Don't forget Steve Engleheert did this story, too.

Did they ever say they weren't viable storytelling tools? As far as I knew, they just stopped using them for awhile.

That could actually work (sans the decoy bit; I think that bit has already been done; in Sherlock Holmes and twice on the Simpsons fer instances).

Zaki, they stopped using them because, I thought I remember it being said, such tools were outdated.
