The "Death" of Captain America doesn't bother me as much as the manner in which it happens. Being shot by a sniper while cuffed is kind of lame. Some of the panels make it look like he died while saving someone's life, which would be good, but I'd still rather see something more epic.

When I was a little boy, I had those Mego Superhero dolls. I loved them, but I might get ribbed for it. Sometimes, some older kid would get his hands on them and make them do wrong things-- sexy stuff/violent stuff ("Ooo, look out-- BAM! I guess Batman's dead. Aw.").
Now Green Goblin's having sex with Gwen Stacey, bad guys are pulling Spider-Man's eyes out, the heroes had a "Civil War" and this spoiler-ific surprise. It's like that kid went out and got a job at Marvel comics.

Didn't say that. I just don't think a "well-written" story is an adequate shield for terrible/insulting ideas.
After all, if a story where Cap is sodomized and forced to eat
kittens is "well-written", does that mean it is good and/or appropriate? **** absolutely not, but nothing as outlandish as that is happening. i don't think it's too far-fetched that someone who fights crime for a living could get shot or killed

I had this great idea for a story where Captain America quits being a super hero, gets fat from eating a lot of greasy food, and sets out to ruin super hero comics forever.
Y'know...just like a regular guy would.
Now it must needs go untold.

Okay, then. Looks like a bunch of books will have to be cancelled in the interests of realism. After all, if a crimefighter is killed in the line of duty, doesn't that mean End Of Series?
Or, will books like "Captain America" become, "Captain America's Mourning Supporting Cast"?

A dead pool is more a list of people that you expect to die soon, usually in the context of gambling over who will die next. It is not generally a list of people one intends to murder (or seeks to encourage the murder of).
Still pretty hostile and morbid though.
