Changing the thread title is a kind gesture for those that really care, Matt.

I haven't read the news anywhere but on da JBF, so Cap's doom hasn't quite
blasted its way across Canada to the main pages of sites here on the west
coast.

Spoilers are a funny thing nowadays.

i'm really looking forward to this story, because i trust brubaker so much. i feel this is the finest run on captain america ever, and i believe it's only going to get better

killing off captain america may make mainstream headlines, but we all know steve rogers will be back, it's part of the game

"SPOILER leads to anger, anger leads to hate, hate leads to suffering"

...

Anyway, On-Topic (or would it actually be Off-Topic, considering where the thread started?), I'm kind of glad I'm not a Captain America fan.

I know a bit about the character, and like him, in general (the cartoon when I was a kid), but I've read exactly 2 Captain America comics in my life... and, oddly enough, neither of them featured the good Captain as the main star (1 had his... replacement, I think, wearing a black and red costume and the other featured Nomad and a villain named Mad Cap)!

This news still saddens me a great deal.

"It’s a hell of a time for him to go. We really need him now," said co-creator Joe Simon, 93, after being informed of his brainchild’s death.

Captain America himself wore that black variation and called himself the Captain after he'd stepped down as Captain America.  The guy who became US Agent was actually Captain America while Steve Rogers was the Captain.

Appropriately, with Cap's death, the last vestige of anything pure or decent about Marvel dies with him.

I don't care what the "point" is, I don't care if it's just a stunt that will be reversed, I don't care if the story is "good" or "well-written".

The twist is that Captain America doesn't realize he is dead because he doesn't go online to look at MySpace and YouTube.

From henceforth I will refer to the company that was once Marvel as "Snuff".

Maybe MYSPACE could be the name of a new Captain America villain and he could cause chaos and destruction with his deadly YOUTUBE!  Anyone wanna design the character?  I'll just take co-creator status.

With Sue Dibney's death a year or so ago, you could say the same about DC, Joe, if you were so inclined.
