...and Daniel, I agree with Michael. The beginning of the Jones run which you have is great - but it went on with hardly any explanation or momentum for a couple of years. The characters were written out of character, and it just collapsed under the weight of its own over-elaborate plotting. By the end, I could have cared less who was behind the whole thing, like X-Files toward the end.

Too many red herrings, too many plot contrivances, to much "how can we fit the characters into THIS story"

But man, those first few issues - great stuff with lots of potential!

*****

And I'd third the above.  Jones' run started out superbly with a real mystery and intrigue (and fantastic JRjr art), but by the end--boring.

I guess it could read better in TPB format since you don't have to wait a month between issues, but it didn't work in monthly format in the long run.

The fact that this thread even has reason to exist makes me sad.

and even more tragic on top of eating them, Greg, is the fact that he takes over a year and a half to do it.

More crap melodrama w/e. Same old pos stories with more braindead violence and characters.

++++++++++++++

Hulk likes to chew slow. Savors meal. Hulk does not eat to survive. Hulk eats because he enjoys the taste!

Hostess fruit pies no longer please Hulk.

I don't wish I was a kid again. I got picked on and was a-feared way too much. And when I was in 4th grade I had a chance with my first real love, Vicki Pritchett, and I was too scared to act. EDIT: A "chance" meaning to maybe hold her hand, tell her I loved her, that sort of thing. Not playing Punch the Clown.

The only parts of being a kid missed involve reading comics outside in the sun and watching Saturday Morning Cartoons ("New Adventures of Flash Gordon" was the shite!) and the Incredible Hulk TV show and "Creature Features" on Channel 20. Outside of that, piss on being a kid.

I wish Stan Lee would step forward and say, "I'm ashamed of what Quesada and the ilk have done to my creations." But Stan's kind of a salesman, and he sells whatever car is on the lot.

I bet Kirby would have had something to say though. Somebody said Kirby would have fallen in line just like Stan. I'd love to see someone compile a series of articles with guys like Stern and Thomas and Wolfman and Byrne and Miller about exactly what is wrong with the industry. Where's the SUPERSIZE ME documentary on Big Two comic books? The product is bad for you.

Hostess ad: "Ultimate Weapon" bearing down. People scrambling for their lives.

Hulk: "Dumb humans scared. Hulk not scared."

You gotta love the Hulk back in them days.
