If I'm not mistaken, 12/21, not 12/22 is the first day of Winter.  So technically, I would have said yesterday was winter.  But all of this is moot because we've had temps in the zero to 20 range for the past week, plus lots of snow.  For me, it's Winter when it's cold !

Addendum:

In the Northern Hemisphere, the Winter Solstice occurs on December 21, 2008 at 7:04 AM EST and 12:04 UT (Universal Time).

In the Southern Hemisphere, the Winter Solstice takes place on June 20, 2008 23:59 UT (Universal Time).

DD/S-H

What the esteemed Mr. Hollon said.  And I've been yelling at my kids for several weeks to stop leaving the house in the morning without jackets cause it's frickin' Winter.
