I like the name Magneto. Not only is it a product of it's times (some villains' names ending in the word "o", e.g. Giganto, etc.), but it is elegantly simple and to the point. I would assume that "Magneto" is derived from the middle name of Erik Magnus Lehnsher. Magnus may sound a little more romantic, but I think Magneto does the job just fine. Finally, it isn't so much the name, but what this man can do that makes him truly terrifying. I'm not an X-Men reader, but I really enjoyed all the movies ! Sir Ian McKellen is a top notch actor and makes the name and character of Magneto totally believable !

Poorly named or moreso poorly pronounced - just can't take a supervillain with "NEATO!" as part of his name.

Awesomely named...until I found out it's pronounced Mag-neato. That's a B villain name.

It seems to me that Magneto's either poorly named - i.e., he's got more, however ill-defined, tricks up his sleeve than just magnetism, or he's massively over-rated, or Polaris is the worst-written character ever. Always bothered me. Plus, I wanted Sentinels every month for forever.
Tuesday, 12/16 toss-up: bigger chip on his shoulder - Guy Gardner or Sunfire?

I'll say Sunfire - he's just a grade-A jerk.
Guy Gardner, on the other hand, can be a decent fellow on rare occasion. Plus, if he had a chip on his shoulder, Batman knocked it off! ("One punch!")

I always felt that Sunfire's attitude was a result of being slightly misunderstood. Guy was just a jerk.
