It's hard to argue against Mad's history of outstanding work, but when I was a kid I much preferred Crazy. Alan Kupperberg, Vic Martin, Marvel parodies using real Marvel art and artists, good stuff all around. Mad of that period seemed awkward. Dave Berg's stuff struck me as painfully antiquated, while the rest of the humor was more or less sophmoric (Don Martin, Sergio Aragones, and Prohias notwithstanding.) I loved the Mad Super Specials with work from Bill Elder or Wally Wood, but month to month, Crazy had it all over Mad, in my opinion.
And Cracked beat them both, pretty much solely on the strength of John Severin, probably my favorite artist then and still a powerful contender for the title today.
