As a story? No question about it - Detective Comics #27

Obviously, Action Comics #1 can be seen as the most important superhero comic of all time. But I'm not sure it holds up as an entertaining story.

The early Batman stuff, on the other hand, remains extremely compelling, in my opinion. There's a real creepy, eerie quality that is timeless in those stories. Even if they weren't "important," I'd still love reading them.

Hmmm . . Det. 27 other than Batman had Slam Bradly and Crimson Avenger, vs. Action with Superman, Zatara, and Tex (Mr. America) Thompson -- i think i'll go with Action #1
