while the Judas Contract was a much better story, having Yellowjacket, a long established character, betray the avengers was much more shocking

Terra for me.  Yellowjacket just went nuts.  We saw Terra saving lives even as she plotted against her team-mates.  I was so sure being around heroes would redeem her... nope.

Wednesday 10/29 toss-up: sadder death - Terra's or Phoenix's?

- Yellowjacket's betrayal was more shocking, but in a bad way. It didn't seem believable.

Terra's betrayal of the Teen Titans in "The Judas Contract" was a much better story - one of the best stories of the 1980s, in my opinion.

- For sadder death, I'll go with Jean's death in Uncanny X-Men #137. It still bugs me that she was brought back, undoing that classic storyline.
