I love JB's Superman as much as the next guy and didn't miss an issue, but I gotta go with with Gil Kane's Pre-Crisis Superman.  It was my favorite from my very own "Golden Age."  Just look at him.  Wow!

TODAY'S TOSS-UP (3/12):

The "New Look" Batman from the latter part of the Silver Age or the recent, and original, Batman sans the Bat-Signal on his chest?

Never really thought about it, but I just did some looking around and I like the unadorned bat from the original.  Simple, elegant, classic.

Pre-Crisis Superman by a HUGE margin for me.

Catching up....

1. I'll go with Waid/Garney's Captain America over Brubaker's run.

In general, I like Brubaker a lot (great work on Catwoman), but the Bucky stuff and the latest issue take it too far for me. I agree re: DeMatteis and Gruenwald - can't say enough good things about them.

2. Definitely post-Crisis Superman for me. The character introduced in Man of Steel seems much more human to me. He's not as powerful, but we can relate to him better.

3. I like the original/current Batman look. Which is kind of funny, since most of my favorite Batman stories (the stuff from the early '70s) are in the "yellow oval" era.

I'll go against nostalgia here and say the original, without the yellow, even though the yellow oval Batman is the one I was first introduced to.
