Wow! That's a tough question, as both are among the all-time greats. But I'm going to go with our esteemed host, John Byrne.

As Joe says, I find him more versatile and JB's overall body of work is more appealing to me. The one book where I would pick JR Jr. over JB is Spider-Man. For everything else, I'll go with JB -- but no offense to Mr. Romita, whose work I absolutely love.

John Byrne

I enjoy the artwork of both Romitas (especially Sr.), but JB has had a meaningful, positive impact on so many characters as both a writer and an artist that there are very few comic book creators I'd pick over him.

Wow, tough one. Hmmm....as the good Mr Hagerman would say: Tails, John Byrne.  Both are amazingly talented artists.

No contest !  I have enjoyed JB's pencils and plots for as long as I can remember !  By contrast, I am truly mystified as to why others enjoy JRjr.  Whatever the appeal is, I just don't get it !  Note: I do enjoy his dad's work.

Ted -

After you cycle through your list of comic personalities, could we do "Toss Up" about barabarians: Conan, Kull, Warlord, Brule, Toth Amon, Sonja, Dagar, etc?  Thanks !

John Byrne wins, but it's close as Romita Jr is my second favorite and an excellent story teller that has elevated many a bad writer.

I think JR, Jr's artwork fits books like Thor and Hulk well.  I may have given THE INCREDIBLE HERCULES more than a glance if he were drawing it.

I would vote for the Buscema brothers on Thor (JB) and Hulk (SB) !

Dan, one thing I can tell you about JR Jr. is that he is considered a master storyteller by those in the comics industry. I've heard editors say that he has a unique gift for being able to take a less-than-steller script and turn it into an entertaining comic book.
