I'm not familiar with White Witch, so I guess I'll say Magik by default.

But  here's the thing. I liked Magik as a character a great deal. However, I always felt she was far too powerful compared to the rest of the New Mutants team. It was sort of like Phoenix all over again - you had one really powerful character who could make the rest of the gang seem like fifth wheels.

Plus, like John says, her magic-based powers were an odd fit in a team of mutants. I really think it was a case where Chris Claremont had developed this great character, but didn't have a good place to use her once her limited series was finished.

By the way.....her name's pronounced like the word "magic" right?  When I was a kid I assumed it was "may-gick" because, ya know, why spell it weird unless you wanted it pronounced differently?  Since comics are a visual and specifically non-auditory medium I think it is important that writers make pronunciations clear to the readers (if you're going to use weird spellings and such).  Which they rarely do....

Usually I try to side with the Legion; but the White Witch pales in comparison to Magik, IMO.

I liked Magik better (she was an odd fit because of her involvement with magic, but I believe her mutant ability was to create teleport disks, so she did belong with the X-Men/New Mutants in that regard). White Witch was a cool character, but for me Colossus' lil' sister comes in first.
