Thought balloons because it's one of the things comics can do....why deny use of one of your tools?

Thought balloons. I always thought it gave the reader more insight of the character. I also agree with what Joe said.

Thought Balloons, only when they are required without abuse of them.

Well said, Joe.

I'm all for thought balloons. Pretty much for the same reasons.

Great question, Kevin!

Though Balloons - because they are concrete explorations into character, characters can SAY anything, and have just been lying - what they THINK pretty much stands as true.  just another writing tool which SHOULD be used properly.

Thought balloons.

As long as they are used when needed and not overwhelmingly, they can be a very useful tool.  They work better than thought captions in many situations because they can allow narrative captions and the character's thoughts to be used simultaneously. I was writing a scene like that last night and used a thought balloon.
