What does that have to do with someone reading the comic back in the 80s before the revelation?  Nothing.  Maybe some people caught JBs hints and some didn’t.  I didn’t and I don’t think I am alone.

If in a story you hint that some superhero has telepathic abilities and then 20 years later it is openly stated that the superhero *does* have telepahic abilities he wasn't turned into a telepath... he already was! And if the reader didn't get the hints... well maybe they were too subtle but they were there nonetheless!
