Marvel back in the day because it was more "realistic" and grounded. DC today because its characters are still closer to versions that I like.

I was all about Marvel until JB did Man of Steel, but I never found the love for DC in all those years. Marvel characters will always be the best of the bunch to me.

DC.
I grew up DC.
= the small town I lived in had such lousy distribution that there was no way
of knowing if we were going to get the next month's comics so continuing
stories (such as with Marvel) were such a pain.
= also, the characters are so iconic.
= however, once I switched to buying Marvel in the late 70s (when a comics
shop opened in town) I could see I had been buying "small town" comics
instead of the "big city" comics.
= I still have a soft spot in my heart for my first love, tho

Marvel: I grew up a Marvel kid, and when thinking about superheroes I always think Marvel first.
Oddly, enough Green Lantern is my favorite superhero.

DC the first books I read were Superman, Teen Titans, Legion of Superheroes, and Justice League of America, and Warlord. X-Men were during this time, and Early FF. Most Marvel books were to soap opera for me, and not accessible, even now when I look at my collection I have 3x as many DC as I have Marvel.

Marvel. They were the only comics I read when I was a kid. DC and there characters never appealed to me and all the characters I liked were with Marvel.
