Hmmm...that's a much tougher question than "Who do you prefer - the Fantastic Four or Spider-Man?" because you are focusing exclusively on the writing and setting aside the contributions of the artists.
But I'll still pick Spider-Man (surprise, surprise). I just prefer the street-level focus of Spider-Man to the FF's more cosmic approach.
Plus, Lee developed a much better supporting cast and rogues gallery for Spider-Man than he did for the FF. Sure, Doctor Doom is the best Marvel villain period and Galactus is pretty cool, too. But Spider-Man has so much depth in the the bad guy department and Stan Lee developed most of those characters.
I understand that since the Fantastic Four is a team book, they don't have as much room for supporting characters. But Mary Jane, Aunt May, Gwen, Jonah, Flash, Harry, Betty, etc. give the Lee-era Spider-Man books a dimension that the Fantastic Four stories lack.
