Silver age, espeially if it includes the Adams era.

While I love Dark Knight and Year One, Adams beats almost anyone.

Silver Age if you're talking Gene Colan's Batman run from both main titles. Just my favorite Batman of all time, I must say.

But Miller created a whole new character, and I'm a sucker for big tough old guys. Miller Batman wins in most head to heads, except with the Colan stories.

I liked Frank Miller's work on Batman, but I have to go with the O'Neil/Adams stuff from the 70s. "The Joker's Five-Way Revenge" from Batman #251 is truly one of the best Batman stories ever, a dark but enjoyable story which I would give to someone who had never read Batman before. Of course, O' Neil and Adams did so many other great tales too.

Also, I very much enjoyed Len Wein's Batman stories too.
