Silver Age Luthor
(with the exception of him running around in his prison grays all the time)

I love brainy villains building machines to take over the world and bash the
hero!

I go with JB's Luthor and Superman. While I had read some Superman before his run, I didn't start collecting the comics until JB took over. I have read a lot of pre-Crisis Superman since, but JB's run always comes to mind first.

Easy - JB's Man of Steel. No question at all in my mind.

The Silver Age Superman was just too darned powerful. The books lacked any real drama, because Superman could pretty much do anything.

A big part of any good hero story is the notion of the hero overcoming seemingly insurmountable odds. But the Silver Age Superman lacked this basic, important element - and that's what JB introduced.

JB's Superman

Liked the fact he had to strain a little.

JB's Man of Steel. It took a Marvel zombie and introduced him to a whole new universe.
