Stern continues to climb the chart, after the Claremont squeaker.

Last three days:

Claremont over Goodwin. I don't think I've read as much Goodwin as I have Claremont. My fuzzy memories of Claremont's Uncanny wins out in this battle.

Stern over Claremont. Spider-Man, Superman, Avengers you name it. Stern can adapt and write any character with greater ease than Claremont. Claremont really is just a good X-Men writer.

Stern over J.M. I really like both, but to decide who I like better I'll compare their runs on Spider-Man against each other. Pound for pound, I think Stern's run was better.

Happy Birthday Ted.

Thanks, Guys!

Today, July 28, is my birthday.  I am 37.  Yesterday, my secretary threw a party for me at work.  That is why TOSS-UP was late.  My family also went to my mother's house for dinner, and my brother's family came down from NYC.  Today we are heading up to Jersey City for an Italian feast/family reunion where we will again celebrate my birthday.  Then tonight we have to come back down because my wife is singing at the Hard Rock Cafe in Atlantic City.  Tomorrow, we gotta take a boat ride and celebrate again with my wife's family (we live in the same development), and Monday night, the wife and I are taking the kids out to dinner, just the four of us.  Tuesday we celebrate another birthday at work.  Fat and tired is the motto for the next few days, but life is good.

TODAY'S TOSS-UP (7/28):

J. M. DeMatteis or BIll Mantlo?
