I've probably read more Charlton comics. So they win by default.

I know some Fawcett characters, but only in their later DC-owned incarnations. I've actually read some Charlton comics, plus they gave JB his start, so I vote for Charlton.

Ditko's work puts Charlton over the top.

Charlton for me too, and welcome to TOSS-UP, Stan!

TODAY'S TOSS-UP (7/25):

Archie Goodwin or Chris Claremont?

Not even close, Ted - Chris Claremont in a landslide!

No knock on Archie Goodwin, who was a fine comics writer. But Claremont is way up high on my list of all-time best comic book writers. His run on Uncanny X-Men is legendary, but he did plenty of other great work, too, most notably New Mutants and the Wolverine limited series.

To answer James' bonus question, I gotta go with Charlton, as I'm a sucker for the Charlton books. It was always a thrill to pick up a copy of Ghost Manor and find a Steve Ditko story buried between the ads for X-ray specs and itching powder!
