In fact, as OSPG says, it was a revelation.

Of course it was a revelation!  He came out of the closet to the characters in the issue in question!  I can't honestly believe that you're using the Overstreet Guide as evidence that Northstar was never supposed to be gay!  It was a revelation to the other characters in his world, but not a revelation to those people who paid attention to how he was portrayed, not only by the creator of the character, but by everyone else who worked on him.  What? He should have run around with a rainbow uniform and shouted "I'M GAY!!" from the top of his lungs in every other issue?

As Peter David established in X-Factor,  as a super-speedster Northstar would be waiting around forever for his partner to do anything if he took the role of a bottom... His natural arrogance and sheer impatience with the rest of humanity would ensure, for the sake of his own sanity, that he set the pace of the encounter (if not necessarily the content.  That's more a bottom thing...) His super-enhanced speedster senses wouldn't have it any other way...

Or, wait.  Was that Pietro?  Which one flies again?

Former chaffuer of Janet Van Dyne, David Cannon, however...

Top.  Definitely a top...

Same goes for Davy Mitchell & Roscoe Dillon.  Plus, I would guess that they are also spinners... Just guessing, of course...

I think Northstar's a big ol' bottom -- worse, a controlling bottom!

(That from a big 'ol top!)

Enough!  On with the show.

TODAY'S TOSS-UP (1/21):

How do you prefer Aurora, Original Black & White costume or JB's newer yellow one?

I will go with the original costume.

As mentioned previously, old costume by far. New costume/haircut had Made in the '80s written all over it. That switch was like going from Catherine DeNeuve to Bananarama. (Sorry, JB, but no one bats 1.000).

The original costume, for any number of reasons... Not the least of which was that it tied her to Northstar, and partnerships in comics are too short-lived.  Didn't they recently break up Cloak & Dagger on similar "who am I without you?" grounds...?

Original. I think the new costume looked good, don't get me wrong, but the original works in so many levels.

I like that JB has indicated he probably would have had Aurora return to that costume had he continued on the.

Oh, and I am amazed that Peter David felt it necessary to have that "revelation" about Northstar.

I enjoyed the second one, but the first one was better.
