While I have a certain fondness for the costumed Sandman, his original look wins for me. Sunday, 5/23 toss-up: better origin - Doctor Doom or The Fantastic Four?

Its a matter of pride on two different scales.
In the case of Reed Richards, his pride is too great to check whether the shielding is strong enough to prevent the deaths of himself and his three friends because "we have to beat the Russians into space."
In the case of Doom, its a matter of assuming he's right, and not double-checking the equations on the experiment that could explode in his face, killing him, ruining his one and only chance to save his mother from eternal damnation, and possibly destroying the world.
So if the question is actually who is the lesser dumbass, its very close, but Reed wins by not endangering the entire world and possibly someones eternal soul.
Fantastic Four.

Streetclothes for yesterday. I always like the idea of brilliant, youthful rivals who become bitter enemies later in life, so Doom and Reed being brilliant together at ESU before Doom blows face off is a tale that appeals to me. So I'll go with Dr Doom.

Keeping with my not-going-to-bother-clicking-back-a-page policy, I'll answer:
The terrible twos.
