Hey Wallace, saw a letter-to-the-editor of yours in an issue of the Avengers (an Alan Davis book from 2001) I was reading the other night. Just thought I'd mention it ...

Deadman. Just love the design, innovative. Spectre's little Robin Hood shoes ruin it for me.

I don't know how easy to find it would be but Neal Adams Deadman stories were also reprinted in a miniseries by DC in the mid-80's.  If it can be located it might be quite a bit cheaper than the hardcover (though not as nice of a package).

Deadman.  That early story where he's crouched beside a wire wastepaper basket watching his personal papers burn has stayed with me since I first saw it ages ago... Reprinted in the same World's Finest issue, I believe, with Metamorpho masquerading as a doorknob on the cover... Those two became my absolute favorite characters for months afterwards...

Chad, doesn't Deadman wear lil' pointed slippers as well?  Or is it the lincoln green of the Spectre's that's throwing you?

David, I'd also recommend the Deadman run in Adventure comics with art by Jim Aparo and Jose Garcia Lopez.  JGL also illustrated DC Comics Presents 24 (as shown a couple of times in the "Never Judge a..." thread), the Deadman mini-series written by Andrew Helfer (which ignores all continuity after the original Adams run and simply proceeds from there), and a two-part love story in Deadman's latest title, issues 5 and 6.  All very good stuff... Brave and Bold 104 contains another Deadman love story that I really enjoy.

Oliver, that was my one and only letter to a comic book.  I had pretty much forgotten about sending it when I walked into Books Do Furnish a Room one Wednesday, and the guy behind the counter told me it had been published.
