Michael's got Superman down pat - he's inspirational.  Captain America would have worked as well.  Mr. Fantastic is more inspired than inspirational.  Reed's gift is that he's resourceful (Batman would probably be the same kind of leader).  I'd rather follow Reed.  He'd find a use for me, even if it was just plugging in the Frammakirbylator on cue.  I'd just let Superman down.

Saturday, 1/30 non-toss-up: who is the greatest leader in all of comics history?  Show your work; do not divide by zero.

The Leader.

Capitalization counts.

I don't know what the second part means, but my answer is Superman.  Whether it's inspiring all of humanity to fight the White Martians (even knowing that fire is their weakness, I'd probably be too scared to even try it), to fight Mageddon, Doomsday to go good and fight the army of Gog, inspiring all of Stryker's island to fight on the side of angels in the Russian Zod war, strategizing Brainiac 13/Imperiex's defeat on the spot, while everyone else was planning on the lunkheaded shoot him out of the sky approach, etc., Superman has used his popularity and keen mind to save the universe more times than anyone can count, which makes him comics' greatest hero, in my opinion.  He's simply the best.

Captain America. If ever a hero was able to lead by example and also inspire his comrades by his mere presence, Cap's the man.

I remember an Avengers issue some years ago where someone (it might have been She-Hulk) asked the Falcon if it bothered him to always be thought of as Captain America's sidekick. His reply was "Lady, next to Captain America, everybody's a sidekick."

Nick Fury

He went from squad leader to commander of the world's premier spy organization. That's quite the rise, and he did it with style.

I think I remember reading that as well.  What's "odd" is that I believe Captain America once or twice referred to the Falcon as a sidekick when they shared the title, but other times described him as a full partner.

That's cool, but it's a question of teamwork, not visual appeal.

Thanks for your help.

Aaron,
that's an excellent quote!
I love that aspect of how certain comicbook writers 'get' it, and know how to put those words into characters' mouths.

Captain America was the first name that popped into my head, so I'm going with him.
