Jeezaloo Kevin why don't you make the choice more difficult.  The Kirby energy is speaking to me today but I think the more what the hell would be illicited by the X-Men pages.  So, by a hair, the X-Men pages.

X-Men/Imperial Guard splash (Starjammers??).

I think judged purely by art alone, the Kirby piece is at least as good as the Cockrum piece. But, as a storytelling experience, I think there is overall a better flow to the X-Men splash.

It almost physically pains me to NOT pick a Kirby two-page spread but in this case....INTRODUCTION OF THE IMPERIAL GUARD gets my vote!
