I don't like either film, but, if pressed, I suppose I'd have to give it to Night of the Living Dead.  Aside from the African American, the acting is pretty terrible, but it lacks the obtrusive, philistine pretentiousness that Dawn of the Dead and the other films have, in my opinion, which is important to me.

They're both put in the dust, as is every other zombie movie I have ever seen, by 28 Days Later, in my opinion (though, I suppose, an argument can be made that this is not a zombie film).

generally speaking the Zombie Movie is not a genera i'm fond of - i haven't seen Dawn of --, and really disliked Night of --.  the Resident Evil movies are the only Zombie movies i've ever actually liked (tho' i seem to remember there being a b&w  Bob Hope movie with Zombies where he mistook them for Democrats which was amusing) -- anyway -- to answer the question . . i guess i'll say "Dawn of the Dead" since i never saw it, it's personally inflicted no pain, nor wasted any of my time.
