Too many to catch up on, so I'll edit down my answers to the important one:

John - thanks for pitching in. I hadn't heard from Hammerhead that his
internet is on the fritz again, but it seems it must be. You know. Since
we hadn't heard anything.
I'm working my way through Neil Peart's Ghost Rider - Travels on the
Healing Road for a second time and finding much new relevance in it to
my own personal struggles. A book I'd highly recommend to anyone who
is suffering through some form of loss or sudden catastrophic change in
their life.
Then I have books lined up from Sherri S. Tepper, Larry Niven, Susanna
Clarke, Nicolas Sparks (yep! Not embarrassed to admit it, either), and S.M.
Stirling.

Bruce: I actually liked the new Mutants under McLeod, and LOVED the book
during Seindkividfadxivoazx's run. (You know, that Bill guy who I'm
apparently to lazy to go look up how to spell his name).
But Sunspot and Cannonball were always my least favourites in the group,
and, well, I let my dark and twisted sense of humour get the better of me
there...

Sunspot could be a jerk. But Cannonball? C'mon - he's a poor ol' country boy tryin' to do right by mama and the young'uns back home. He's like a country music song come to life!
Sometime after Claremont left, the New Mutants suffered from that old bugaboo of aging in comics. The initial concept was a great one - they were mutant heroes in training, but not full-fledged superheroes. That's how they should've stayed.

Rassle-frassin'! I didn't check my post and it must not have "gone through". Anyway, I liked Cannonball. He had that Cletus Cyclops feel.
We shall resume El Tosso Uppo tomorrow morning.

Soon as I finish Podkayne of Mars, I'm following Troy to Dresden's Chicago to reread up to the latest, which I haven't read yet. Gonna be good.

Shout-out to John Young for keeping the thread alive yesterday after my internet brain fart.
I'm reading me some Joe Bob Briggs drive-in reviews and having a ball. Every summer I usually read David Lee Roth's Crazy From The Heat (not kidding) but I may graduate to Everybody Wants Some: The Van Halen Saga. I'm soooo rock 'n' roll...
Tuesday 6/23 toss-up, New Mutants edition: Karma or Magik?
