I have to go with Alfred. You never know when you might need a master makeup artist who can perform emergency medicine then conjure up a delicious meal, all in one day.

Alfred.

Tho Jarvis has all of the Avengers to tend to, he has never seemed more
than a very competent butler. Even after Avengers #201. (Trying to upload
image of this cover, but it's not working.)

"Oh heavens, Master Thor, your entrances always fluster me!"

I would much rather have Alfred at my back. He's not only unflappable, but
seems to have a limitless supply of previous experience.

"Have I ever told you I was once called on to perform emergency brain
surgery for the Queen . . ."

Jarvis can wrangle a vacuum cleaner with the best of 'em, but he's no Alfred.

Mr. Pennyworth isn't just a butler or a supporting character - he's the loving grandfather/father figure of the Batman Family. Batman and Robin know they can always depend on him, and Alfred frequently is the voice of caution and calm.

One of my all-time favorite Batman scenes takes place in Chuck Dixon's excellent Robin: Year One. Dick, still new to the superhero business, has made a mistake and Bruce is laying into him pretty rough. Alfred, who is normally so stoic and deferrential to his boss, steps in and says, "That's enough!" That scene really underscores the family dynamic between the three.

Alfred.

Oh, and a question...is Jarvis now gay? I was skimming through something Ultimate and remember reading some comments made by Jarvis that made it sound that way.

Guess I'll take the torch?

Question of the Day:

Sergio Aragonés or Fred Hembeck?

Gotta go with Sergio.  The only artist I've ever met in person at the only convention I've ever been to.  There wasn't another soul at his table, which astounded me.  He was extremely polite and did a quick sketch for me.

I've never heard of Sergio Aragones so I'll have to vote for Fred Hembeck.
