you know, while Cyclops IS Mr. X-Men, i really could picture what stories with him Trying to be an Avenger would be like - the clash of a natural leader on a team that he doesn't lead - and for a limited time they would be, as Mike said, Fun Reading - inversely, i can't see Marvel Girl fitting/contributing to Avengers stories in any way

I think the interaction of Cap and Cyclops would make for some good reading, toss in Hawkeye and let simmer...

I'd prefer seeing Angel in a solo book rather than Cyclops.

Cyclops over Marvel Girl for the Avengers slot

Marvel Girl almost makes for perfect early 70's Avengers casting, viewed as another of those frail, fainting maidenfairs of days gone by, brought in to the team for some character development and power amplification, ala' the Wasp, Patsy Walker, or the Scarlet Witch.  Jean was a lot like them at one time...

Of course, her return to the X-Men more or less resolved those issues swiftly and gave her one of comicdom's immortal story arcs, so no loss there.

Cyclops would be cool meeting the team midway through a mission, knowing more than they do about the problem, and easily slipping into the role of tactician and field leader.  Who would actually follow him and why would make for some interesting moments... Eventually, he'd be redundant once Cap appeared at the fore once again, but for a while there, probably a very short while, it'd be nice having him around.

I'm voting Cyclops, the man who always keeps one eye on the winners' circle...

Marvel Girl would make a good Avenger; Cyclops would not- although Troy's got the same thought I did - Cyclops as Avenger would ultimately serve to solidify Cyclops as Mr. X-Man.

Of course, there's the alternate relaunch of the X-Men I've been toying with in my mind, the one where Marvel Girl stays, Cyclops goes to The Avengers, Angel goes solo, Blob is recruited in GSXM to fight Krakoa, Kitty Pryde shows up as a captive of the Sentinels in X-Men 98, and Wolverine goes back to Alpha Flight in 109.  But enough about me and my awesome fanfic.

Saturday 1/31 toss-up: better Spider-Man villain - The Lizard or The Vulture?
