I'd flip a coin too, but I left all my change at home.
I think Cap could take out Doc Ock without breaking a sweat, so I am going
with Superman versus Sinestro. Maybe Hal Jordan for backup. Going with the
expected here.

I think Sinestro is more likely to need back up. He'd send out a power ring call for help...and no one responds except Bizzaro, because bad guys just don't help each other out. Yeah, I don't think this is how you intended the question to be answered..but Superman and Cap wouldn't need backup. They would persevere and triumph over evil because that's what they do.

*Need* back-up? Capt America vs Dr Octopus
Whether he *calls* for back-up is another matter.

Captain America vs. Dr Octopus. Cap and his shield would take down the mechanical arms, but I'll play along. Wasp and Yellowjacket respond.

More than one way to skin a cat. And with a healthy sprinkling of clichés, any hero can find himself in need of backup. Think innocent bystanders. Instant equalizer for your unscrupulous naughty persons.
Any[way], every day someone seems to ferret out when I have a follow-up situation in mind, and you're today's winner. Be sure and come back tomorrow...

As Octavius is essentially a pudgy middle-aged man with artificial arm extensions going up against the Marvel hero par excellence, I'm going to say Cap V. Ock is a no-brainer - Cap would mop up the floor with him. No need for back-up.

I disagree, simply based on the battles Ock has had with Spider-Man. Cap is an awesome athlete and excellent at turning a defensive situation into an offensive attack BUT there are 4 arms and he doesn't have Spidey sense or radar like DD. I'd say he'd really have his hands full, as I could see Ock pulling that shield out of the air like it was nothing. However it might confound him a bit.

Doctor Octopus has long been established as one of Spider-Man's most deadly foes. So there's no reason why he couldn't give Captain America, who doesn't have any superpowers of his own, more than he could handle.
So it's Cap vs. Doc Ock for me. And as for who answers the call? Why, that friendly neighborhood Spider-Man, of course!

Superman vs. Sinestro - and yeah, Hal would naturally be the responder
