Dear JB,

do you believe that Galactus should be depicted without a helmet like in the
original Bob Layton "Hercules Prince of Power" limited series and in an early
90's "Silver Surfer"-issue?

I don't know how Galactus is being currently portrayed.

I'd like to know why Layton thought it was a good idea to depict Galactus as Mongolian warlord. It's not that it's that bad of an idea it's just...odd.

Maybe that's how he sees him...

Can't anything be a mystery  in comics? Do we have to know what Dr. Doom looks like, or Wolverine's orgin, or how Galactus looks without a helmet?

Actually, it seems like the "easy choice" to make helmetless Galactus look inherently mean and evil.

What would have been more shocking would have been to give him gentler features.  Not necessary kind eyes, but softer.  THis would reinforce that Galactus does not eat to be malicious, but he does so simply to survive.

He has no other choice.

I hate helmetless Galactus.

In my eyes, he doesn't wear a helmet, it's just the way we perceive him,
having him without a helmet doesn't work for me at all.

Wasn't he drawn without a helmet before he became Galactus in the origin one-shot?

Kirby drew him without the helmet in the origin, he looks like that without it. I think he should be helmeted always tho, like Dr Doom should never be revealed.

I think it flies in the face of the concept that each species sees him differently.

Why wouldn't they see him like this? That's what he looks like?
