Kliban is great.  Unfortunately, I think he's more known for his cat pictures than anything else.

*********

For 20 years, I have kept a mug on my desk with a depiction of a crowd of Kliban's cats.  They are so cute.

1800th Post.  Woo Hoo!!

Ducks don't even have hands or fingers.  I dare anyone to give a gun to a duck.

"Love to eat them mousies
Mousies what I love to eat
Bite they little heads off
And nibble on they tiny feet"

I love Kliban's stuff so much.

I always loved the Gahan Wilson cartoon where there is a terrified man in bathing in one of those old bathtubs with animal feet underneath and they are walking...somewhere. The man stammers "W..where are you taking me?!"

BTW I think the "don't bother wrapping it I'll eat it here" is a Gahan Wilson cartoon and it's a vampire talking to a hypnotized nurse in a maternity ward.

Don't do it! Don't listen to this man! I think he's working with the ducks. If they get guns it's all over! Don't do it!

Darren obviously has never been on the bad side of a duck.

Well, I will admit to my failure to get the "Cow Tools" joke...possibly because I can't identify the two leftmost items on the table.  What the hell are they?

According to Larson, it was the idea that cows used tools that was funny, not the exact tools themselves.  Imagine some display in a cow museum if that helps.

I am still looking for my favorite Far Side. Haven't seen it since it was in the paper.

The set up:

An eagle or hawk, sitting in a nest with binoculars and other bird watcher's items. Staring out at the viewer with an evil Jack Nicholson grin. As you see that around the bird the familiar Binocular silhouette.

I seem to remember Larson remarking something once about the cow's lack of opposable thumbs having something to do with the joke.  No opposable thumbs=impossible to use tools (and especially the tools depicted).
