Jon Godson:  You know, the more I see of work of Ross Andru and Mike Esposito, the more I realize that the two guys have yet to receive the proper accolades for their talent. They were the real thing.

Jon, the Andru/Esposito Spider-Man was my first exposure to the character on the printed page (AMAZING SPIDER-MAN #167 was the first issue I ever bought -- with Tooth Fairy money, no less! -- after seeing some of the 1960's animated episodes in syndication), so I remember their rendition fondly.  I completely agree that they get overlooked a lot.

And, just to bring Slurpees back into it, I made that purchase at a 7-11.  Gotta love those spinner racks.

I agree about Andru/Esposito, they had a long run on Spider-Man with many Romita covers. They also were the main Wonder Woman and Metal Men artists for DC before going to Marvel.

Marcus and Frank, thanks for checking out the video, and the kind words. It was a blast putting it together!

Frank, I hope Robert won't mind me chiming in, but that cup is "Super-Stan"  I had that one.  And yes it was as goofy as it sounds.

The comments about Keith Pollard bring to mind a question... who was the first black artist in comics?  I know Pollard, Ron Wilson, and Billy Graham all broke in around the same time.  Were they the first, or was there anyone before them?

Does anyone have a copy of that complex picture/maze of the bullpen (as
drawn by Marie Severin?) that shows where everyone worked and all of the
freelancers hanging out?

Jason, "good girl" artist, Matt Baker was African-American, I believe. I'm not sure, but I think Mac RaBoy was, too.

Mac Raboy was not African-American. Not that there's anything wrong with
that.

Yep - that was indeed Super-Stan.  I used to have the entire set as a kid - and luckily I liked the Slurpees that came with them.  I'm guessing I was maybe 12 or 13 at the time.
