Yeah, the JRjr period armour is a perfectly reasonable update in that it keeps most of the basics, and any kid looking at a stand of comics could still pick out the Iron Man book pretty easily.

I just went to Bob Layton's site, and I just love the way he almost can't seem to help but draw Iron Man - very cool!

I have a very cool Toy Biz Iron Man, from the early 90s, that looks like the
Guice/JRJR version. He even has a removable helmut. Its a great toy because
it has a great chunkiness to it, compared to the other Marvel figures at the
time.

Joe Boster: Edit: Roger, is that page from heritage auctions?

Joe, nope.  I just did a Google image search and this is what came up:

Wow..I had forgotten that their were five series of Iron Man figures from
Toy Biz in the mid 90s. A lot of the armors look pretty neato...other don't
of course. It was almost a mini Avengers line.

Then there are all sorts of other variants, from other Toy Biz series. Just
google "Toy Biz Iron Man" and check it out.

Here's two of my faves though, the Secret Wars Iron Man:

and the first Iron Man figure from Toy Biz's Marvel Heroes line, from the
early 90s. This is the one with the removable helmut that is soooo cool!
He also had snap on leg and arm attachments that added to the
chunkiness.

That Secret Wars Iron Man was an all-time favorite action figure of mine.  He's the only Secret Wars figure I still have.  I managed to lose both the Red & Blue and Black Costume Spider-Man when I was little.

My favorite armors for in the comics are the JR/JR Red and Gold update and the Silver Centurion.  Of course Armor Wars was the only time I ever really collected the series.

The secret wars toy is the only one I really liked.  Oh and the big 18" Iron Man from the cartoon. I still have him.

I have just been inspired to create a character called Hell Mutt:  He is a dog from hell who actually wear a helmet and his owner's name is Helmut...

Re: The Iron Man cover with Spider-Man:

I'll never forgive McFarlane for ruining Spider-Man's eyes.

I really hate sounding like an idiot being I really liked Iron Man and all, but is the Silver Centurion the red and silver/white armor? This really embarrasses me for having to ask this!

Yep, they're one and the same.  I'm not sure where the nickname originated, though.
