Wow, I am going to have to hunt these covers down. I'm a long time reader of comics but some things just seemed to have gone un-noticed by me. Take Master of Kung Fu, I never got into it as a kid and I hated martial arts movies and such. I always saw a lot of the back issues in quarter bins and never thought twice about them (or Iron Fist for that matter... man I'm stupid) and recently I was thinking about it and bought the first four appearances of Shang Chi and I'm frickin' hooked. I'm going to have to get the rest and now these Kirby covers!!!! Marvel should produce posters based on those covers!!!

I also miss the old days of comics (which really weren't that long ago) and I suggest Digital Webbing Presents for those who miss that classic Marvel approach. The Fist of Justice is their current feature and it really reminds you of some of those great 70s period Marvels that people seem to have forgotten about and are just now starting to resurface like Marvel Presents, Marvel Premiere, Marvel Spotlight. Good, good stuff and one of my favourite books. Ed Dukeshire (publisher) is a real fan of the old school comics and Fist is just that, with a bit of an edge that those books tried for but really couldn't pull off considering the code.

Eric, that's a great story!  I have that issue signed by Jim Shooter, who scripted the story from an Archie Goodwin plot.

I have all those issues myself, and you're all right, Kirby would have been excellent on Iron Man. His cover work is what got me to buy the book in the first place.

Those are amoung my most treasured comics. Beautiful Kirby covers throughout the 80's and 90's of the original Iron Man run.

Actually, that's my favourite period of Iron Man. Tuska was on top of his game leading up to issue #100. I forget the actual issue (#96?) but the one where Iron Man takes on Ultimo in Washington is - and this is my 8 year old self talking - the greatest issue of Iron Man ever.

Mike, I'm going from memory, but that was a 2-part story in issues 95 and 96.  The cover to 96 isn't by Kirby, but it's one of my all-time favorites:

The cover to IRON MAN 96 is by Al Milgrom. He really does a good Kirby impression during his time inking these covers. Again, I really think Milgrom does a hell of a job inking Kirby. He also helped on these DEFENDERS covers around the same time:
