It'd be great if a commission of yours of the Hulk showed up on eBay.

That's one nice Michael Golden piece in the beginning of the thread. I love the detail on the taxi.

Where'd that Defenders piece come from, never seen it before?

Wayne, how'd you get a piece of Golden art? I've heard it's easier finding the Holy Grail than finding his work for sale.

Had a mutual friend who's in the business introduce us via email and
went from there. He still had the Hulk calendar illo and a couple of Dr.
Strange portfolio pieces and a boatload of newer stuff ranging throughout
his career. He valued the vintage stuff pretty cheaply. But he was way
high on some of the "newer" things. I brought in a few friends and we
bought quite a bit of art on the first strike. I just kept the Hulk illo. from
the deal though. Gave the Eternity portfolio piece away as a gift. One of
the other guys in the first deal (an art dealer) continued to buy from him
and pretty much cleaned him out, I think.

I've got a great story about our first "transaction" that I'll tell you about
over a drink or two one day.

Hmmm...  Rude and Stern...  Sounds like a character description!

Anyway...  I've gotta get that Superman/Hulk book...

Ah -- terminology askew here! A "commission" is a piece I'm hired to do. Somebody contacts my agent, Jim Warden, and says "I want John to drawn the Hulk for me. Here's a pile of cash." (Well, that's Wayne's approach, anyway.) The pieces I put on eBay -- like the current Batman piece, or the various cover recreations and reinterpretations, are not "commissions". I do those on my own time (and dime), specifically for sale on eBay.

A commission is something that is ordered to be made then. I wonder what creating it to be sold on eBay would be?

That was definitely a fun crossover, so thanks, Glenn!

As much as Steve Rude did a bang-up job, I would have loved to have seen JB do it instead (hey, another Stern/Byrne collaboration, plus JB draws a nice Kirbyhulk, and his Lex Luthor featured prominently in it).

But I agree with JB, it was woefully underadvertised. Not that I blame you or anyone in particular - that was during a time when crossovers were being spit out left and right (I mean, Gladiator/Supreme?? What fan wanted to see _that_??).
