Is there a reason that you chose to do the figures in pen and the background in brush? Your post indicates that this is a bit different for you.

I've been trying to think of an appropriate villain for a "Fantastic Four and Captain America and Spider-Man versus Dr. Doom and <insert mystery villain here>" 20" x 30". Ultron could fit the bill for that one.

Is there a reason that you chose to do the figures in pen and the background in brush?*** As I often do, I penciled and inked the figures while the backgrounds were still no more than the perspective grid. I decided to see how the figures would come out if they were rendered predominantly in pen -- and when they were done, I saw that the relatively small spaces around their silhouettes would be perfect for the kind of short strokes of the brush I used when doing backgrounds on NAMOR and NEXT MEN. (The backgrounds are freehand -- no rulers or other such tools.)
