That is a beauty Joe. I love that Herb re-creates the logos by hand... and does a good job of it, too.
(Herb was lightning quick when he did a commission for me a year or two back. Most important, the work he did was superb).

Brian,
What sort of commission did Trimpe do for you?

Joe H: Here is the commission that Herb Trimpe did for me in July 2005. It is based on Marvel Two in One # 14. Thing and Son of Satan versus a baddy called Ravenstorm.

Congrats, Joe. That's nifty loooking piece. Trimpe is definitely one
of my favourite Hulk artists. Probably my third place with Sal Buscema at
the top and JB a good second.
Btw, if you don't mind my asking, Joe, was it a pricey commission or...?
O and your Son of Satan and Thing isn't too shabby either, Brian. I
wonder if that issue is included in the Essential Horror volume I bought
but still haven't had the time to read. The image makes me really hope
so.

As commissions go I would say it was reasonable. It's smallish at 8"x11" and only pencil but it's hard to come across artists who do cover recreations for anything less than $500. I'll just say it was less than that and direct you to Mr. Trimpe: herbtrimpe.com
Shoot him an e-mail.

Thanks Joe. I'll still have to wait a while before sincerely
considering to commission anything from anyone, both as my finances at
the moment are less appealing to look at than I'd like and because the
apartment I share with my girlfriend is already somewhat overcrowded by
books, comics, DVDs and CDs, so there's no real wall space to hang a
commission piece (and I would one to give one of those babies a good
home if I'm going to do it).
Finally, if i eventually do get going, JB is at the top of my list at the
moment (and I do have an idea or two I'd love to see done by him)... but
who knows if I do get that far, I may get hooked. seems to be true for a
lot of you guys in here to be sure. :)
Anyway, thanks for sharing the info, and now I know where to look if it
gets down to it.
(If I do go for a Trimpe commssion, it would probably be something like a
cover recreation or an image from the Hulk on Counter-Earth with Adam
Warlock in it... or some Abomination stuff.)

Joakim...art has definitely become an addiction for me! I bought my first piece at MidOhioCon 2004 (a Byrne Fourth World page). I didn't get another new page until January 2006. Since January 2006 I have added seven interior pages, two convention sketches, the above posted Trimpe cover recreation and I have another commission on its way to me as we speak (type?) and I'm in the process of commissioning two additional pieces!!!! This sounds even worse to me now that I've typed it out and re-read it...

Thanks for sharing, Joe. You know you can say it... you're a commission-
o-holic and you are aware of it. ;)
Seriously though, I do fear that if I ever get finances and space going and
get off my butt, your story will be my story in a nut shell.
