Okay -- since somebody else already went first, let me "borrow" that piece for a brief art lesson. Chin inside collar is, I suppose, an artistic choice, but there is a GOOF in that drawing which I seem to see time and time again by many different artists.Take a look at that breaking chain. Take a look at the distance between Iron Man's hands. Put the chain back together in your mind's eye. Why is it breaking? The chain is actually longer than the distance between IM's hands. This is something to always keep in mind, if you want to draw a shot like this. The unbroken chain should be shorter than distance between whatever two points (hands in this case) are moving apart and causing it to break. If you want the "dramatic moment" you can pick the precise instant the chain breaks, so it's still stretched tight (as we often see in shots of Superman breaking chains across his chest), but there still needs to be a clear indication that the chain has been pulled out longer than its unbroken length. This, of course, applies to anything else of this nature, too -- rope, for instance, or cable.

Okay....
The Layton art is a tribute to Kirby. It was used on the sticker set from the 70's, the Marx figure from the 60's, as well as t-shirts. Here is the Bruce-Timm re-make for the t-shirt repro, as well as the art from the sticker set (minus the word balloon).
Sure it's wacky, but I don't care, baby!
Don't crack on Layton for doing what I wanted!
Besides, how does one break a chain at a right angle anyway...
geez...

Although the Marx figure avoids the awkward chin problem. It's funny because when I got the Layton art, I thought "What's up with his chin?" Until I checked the original...
Oh well...
Good ol' nostalgia!

oops, I was really only referring to the "chin" comment, and only in a light-harded way...
I just wanted to clarify that this was based off of another illustration. No biggie!
The main thing that I love about the board is JB art comments.
That stuff is gold!
