I am blissfully ignorant about Valiant, so I must confess I don't "get" this cover.

You should really consider checking them out. The early issues have a vitality and enery similar to Silver Age Marvels. All the books were well written and you can't go wrong with Barry Windsor Smith handling art chores on parts of the Solar book.

Just a quick note to congratulate our own Gerry Turnbull on his appearance in the latest issue of Rough Stuff magazine (Twomorrows, Steve Rude Nexus cover).
The issue sports a section of Paul Smith artwork that includes Gerry's PMS/Doctor Strange commission prelims (some of which you might have seen in this very thread!) and a very nice written introduction by GT himself.

They do at that Pat. I wanted something quite unlike any of the other Batman pieces that I own.
