Great Ron Lim sketches, guys.  I haven't seen his work since his Silver Surfer days.  He has gotten so much better over the years.

The first 2-3 years of Valiant comics were some of the best comics ever made IMHO.

I am blissfully ignorant about Valiant, so I must confess I don't "get" this cover. The characters "bursting thru" replaced the ones in the background?

(That credit should read "After Kane and Cockrum", btw.)

IIRC, the background characters are the primary villains for the Valiant heroes.

That Fradon piece is fantastic. Wow. I must meet her someday. Ron Lim too. Excellent work. I'd love to have a sketch by him.

I love the Ron Lim Batman and the Doctor Strange by Paul Smith with colors by Ian Sokoliwski.

Very nice Colan & Giodarno page too.

JB: The characters "bursting thru" replaced the ones in the background?

Dave P is correct: the upper level is made up of bad guys and the bottom consists of the heroes bursting through.

I had Fred Hembeck adapt the same GSXM cover in a similiar manner back in 2005.  The design of the original cover was key.  Emulating the theme of a new generation replacing an older one would have been nice, but there was no logical way I could pull it off while staying true to my Two In One theme.

Fred told me this was the first time he'd been asked to draw the Bill Foster version of Giant Man.

Hembeck is a riot.

And again, many thanks to Pat Ditton.  The package arrived today with the Fradon, Kolins and Lim pieces.

I just found out the coolest thing.  Apparently, the Rude Batman piece I bought was published in his 2007 commision book.
