The Layton pieces are outstanding.

And while JB is entitled to his opinion, his comment seems to go against the house rules of not critizing commissioned pieces, particularly in front of the buyer.

I try to accept folks for who they are and look for positives in everyone. I know not everyone is capable of doing that and I know I fail in doing it sometimes. But you have to know we can't tell folks how they should behave. People will be who they want to be, and nothing we can do or say can change that. If you don't like the way John Byrne behaves, I'm not going to say you have to like it. But I'm not going to tell a grown man how to act either. Especially when I'm his guest. I find JB, at times, to be very dry with his humor. A good many of those occassions people miss the joke. Other times I think he is very straight forward with his statements. Some would even say blunt. Do I agree with 100% of his policies or statements? No, I do not. But being a good guest I try to abide by his policies and give him room to express his beliefs 100% of the time. Some would call that being a sycophant, I call that being courteous. I'm a do onto others type of person. I'm not the kind of guy that says, you treated me bad and I'll treat you worse.

My status on this board is that I feel JB has given me the same amount of respect that I've given him. That is only my personal view. I can't honestly say JB even knows me from any other poster. But when he answers my questions or responds to my posts, he has never given any "bad vibes" to me. I can't speak for anyone but me, but I find this board to be very enjoyable. If I didn't, I wouldn't spend another second here.

Then again Paul, If you piss on those that come to visit you, you can't moan if you're thought of as a poor host.

Whether it was a joke or not, JB still criticised a  commissioned piece  in front of the buyer, something he has shown many times that he hates being done with his work.

Let's hope we see an apology rather than some stealth edit.

In point of fact, others have made this point, not myself. In this, as in all else, I call it a I see it.

Thanks for the comments re: my Layton art.  Bob is my favourite Iron man artist, hence I will continue to get said art from him.  JB is my favourite Superman artist ( as well as other characters), hence eventually, i will get more Superman art from him.

I thought this thread was a great spot to post things, critical or not.  If JB wants to post his thoughts, he is as entitled as everyone else.  I missed the no criticism posting from before, though i suppose it makes sense.  I for one enjoy seeing everyone's new art, from so many great artists.  Let's keep it up!

Huh?

JB made an off-handed comment about the difference in how he and
Layton approach female anatomy, but at no time did he say "this piece
sucks because Layton didn't draw real boobs". Not really a criticism then,
is it folks?

Oh, and by the way, the Layton piece sucks because he didn't draw real
boobs.

Wow!  No love for Bob.  I wasn't looking at the boobs as much as I was concentrating on the joke.  The joke is funny.  From that standpoint alone I think it is a well executed and successful piece.

Robert Last said, " Then again Paul, If you piss on those that come to visit you, you can't moan if you're thought of as a poor host."

***************

Robert, I repost my initial thoughts on the issue, in case you missed it.

" I just don't understand the animosity some folks hold towards the site, while still coming back for the "treatment" they don't think is fair. If I go to a store and don't get treated the way I want, I might go out and bitch and moan to anyone who will listen. That is my preogative. But it seems foolish to go back to the same store over and over almost looking to be treated poorly again by antagonizing folks. After that I can't really complain about the service."

I'm done discussing this, because this thread is too fun to drag into any heated debate.

I just received a package in the mail and as soon as I get it scanned, I'll post it and get this thread back on track.
