I miss the X-Men. I may have to break open one of those storage boxes and re-read those issues (that have not seen the light of day in over 10 years).

Damn... that storyline would have been a classic for sure. Thanks for sharing it, JB.

Wow, I would have loved to see that storyline. Just reading it fills my head with the way I imagine JB would have drawn it.

Years later, in Wolverine's solo book, he did mercy kill Mariko after she was poisoned by blowfish toxin.

Wow! That would have been an awesome story! I love "the death of
Mariko" story Larry Hama did in his Wolverine run, but this would have
been even better.

Thank you so much Mr. Byrne for breaking your own rule and sharing with us that great unused plot.
After your departure from UNCANNY X-MEN, I felt like the "real" X-men, the ones I knew and loved, were dead because I just couldn't recognize them anymore in the issues that followed. So when I realized that the penciller of the UNCANNY X-MEN had been replaced by another artist for good (we didn't get issue #143 here in France because I guess they thought the Alien-like creature was too scary for kids, so imagine my joy when I discovered there was a final JB issue of UNCANNY X-MEN for me to read years later), I kind of found some closure in thinking about Days of Future Past as the tale of the death of "my X-men" even though they happened to die in the future. But once in a while I had that crazy dream in the back of my head imagining that you had continued to produce UNCANNY X-MEN issues by yourself for your own enjoyment. So now I can have a better idea of what those imaginery issues could have been! Thank you so much for making that 12 years old boy inside of me very happy!

I read JB's plot... and the first thought that came to my mind was we've somehow got to commission that story... seriously.

Let's see -- if I did it for my 1980 page rate, no royalties ------ why, for a three parter, you guys would have to cough up a staggering $2550!!!Nobody has that kind of money!! Not even Wayne!
